GALLIPOLIS — David W. Thomas, a member of the boards of directors for Ohio Valley Bank and Ohio Valley Banc Corp., has been recognized as a Person of the Year by the Community Bankers Association of Ohio (CBAO).
A banquet was held in Columbus to celebrate this year’s winners. Thomas was one of five people from across the state that received this honor.Other honorees were: Edward Baumgardner, Lance Ciroli, Nancy Hoffman and Fred Mossing.
Thomas, a Gallipolis native, was honored to be chosen by professionals in the community banking industry.
“To have bankers that you regulated for so many years call attention to those efforts was a tribute I’ll always cherish,” he said.
Thomas served as Ohio’s chief examiner for the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Financial Institutions, for over 20 years. He was elected to the Ohio Valley Banc Corp. and Ohio Valley Bank boards in October 2007.
When accepting the award, he noted, “I look forward to continuing to promote community banking from the ‘other side’ of the desk.”
