Guilty pleas net probation

GALLIPOLIS — Several guilty pleas entered recently in Gallia County Common Pleas Court have been answered with sentences ordering community control.

Cases recently resolved include:

  • Tonya L. Clark, 32, 32 Klicker Road, Gallipolis, was sentenced to 24 months of community control and disqualified from receiving public assistance for life after she pled guilty to one count theft.

    She was initially charged with one count theft and four counts tampering with records for depriving Gallia County Job and Family Services of $5,594 in medical benefit services by tampering with Healthy Start Healthy Families Combined Programs forms on four occasions between March 1, 2004 through Feb. 29, 2008. The four counts of tampering with records were dismissed pursuant to a plea agreement entered into with the state of Ohio.

    Clark was further ordered to pay $5,594 to JFS, 500 hours of community service with all but 60 hours stayed, to register with Ohio Employment Services, and pay all costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

  • Rose A. Waller, 56, 297 Evergreen Road, Bidwell, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after she pled guilty to one count of receiving stolen property regarding a Sears Gold MasterCard credit card and one count of attempted deception to obtain a dangerous drug, a lesser offense than deception to obtain a dangerous drug for which she was initially charged on nine counts regarding 60 Oxycodone tablets.

    She was further ordered to pay all costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

  • Clifford Allen Lambert, 19, 1610 Sailor Road, Vinton, was sentenced to two years of community control after he pled guilty to one count breaking and entering for trespassing in Halfhill’s Tavern in Gallipolis with the purpose to commit a theft offense on July 29, 2007.

    He was further ordered to an evaluation by Spectrum Outreach Center, 500 hours of community service with all but 40 hours stayed, to register with Ohio Employment Services, to obtain his GED, pay $725 restitution to Halfhill’s Tavern, and to pay all costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

  • Charles P. Lewis, 41, 4509 Ohio 141, was sentenced to 12 months community control after he pled guilty to one count obstructing official business.

    He was further ordered to an evaluation at Spectrum Outreach Center along with 500 hours of community control with all but 40 hours stayed, to register with Ohio Employment Services, and to pay all costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

    Cases awaiting sentencing include:

  • Kelly R. White, 28, 366 Swisher Road, Cheshire, pled guilty to attempted felonious assault, a lesser charge than felonious assault, for which she was initially charged for knowingly causing serious physical harm to Adam Jones on May 18.

    Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Valerie L. Hackney, 36, Oak Hill, pled guilty to three counts theft of drugs.

    She was initially charged with 18 counts of theft and 18 counts of drug possession in connection with the theft of 1,840 OxyContin pills from Holzer Medical Center between Sept. 27, 2007 and March 7, 2008. She reportedly filled scripts on 18 occasions totaling 1,000 40-milligram OxyContin pills and 840 80-milligram OxyContin pills, during which time she was an employee at Holzer.

    Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17 at 1:15 p.m.

  • Tiffany J. Grant, 21, Point Pleasant, W.Va., pled guilty to one count possession of drugs regarding three Percocets.

    Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18 at 9:15 a.m.

  • Gary McGuire, 33, 358 East Bethel Church Road, pled guilty to one count theft regarding a 32-inch LCD television from Rent to Own.

    His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 30 at 9:15 a.m.
