RIO GRANDE - Get ready to catch, because the pancake flipping stylings of Chris Cakes of Ohio will return for the second annual Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 3 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Village Municipal Building.
Hosted by the RGVFD Ladies Auxiliary, the event serves as one of the many fund-raisers the organization runs to raise money for lifesaving equipment for the fire department.
Thanks to the support of the community and a grant through the Gallia County Commissioners, the department recently purchased a thermal imaging camera and a portable defibrillator. The cost for the pancake breakfast is $5 per plate, which includes all you can eat pancakes, sausage, orange drink and coffee. Bake sale items will also be available and children ages four and under eat for free.
The ladies auxiliary is also gearing up for the annual Rio Grande Village Yard Sale, scheduled for June 7 beginning at 9 a.m.
To rent a space near the village building or donate items to the fire department contact Joyce Russ, (740) 682-7060; Michelle Miller, (740) 709-9903; Melissa Donley, (740) 418-8639; or Phyllis Brandeberry, 441-5891.
Two other village-wide events are on the horizon, including the Rio Grande Community Fest, scheduled for Sept. 6 and the second annual Rockets over Rio, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy all the events scheduled in the village.
