Esther (Saunders) Blain, 83, of Gallipolis, formerly of Henderson, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Holzer Senior Care Center in Bidwell.

Esther was a homemaker, and a member of the Henderson Church of Christ and the Mason County Homemakers Club.

She was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Harrison Township, Gallia County, to the late Okey E. and Maude (Buckle) Saunders.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Blain, and two sisters, Mildred Rose and Edith McCall.

She is survived by a son, David (Melinda) Shoemaker of Brentwood, Tenn.; two stepsons, Larry (Barbara) Blain and Glenville (Violet) Blain of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Geraldine McAllister of Bidwell; two grandchildren, Lia (Jarrod) Watson of Nashville, Tenn., and Jena Shoemaker of Brentwood, Tenn.; and numerous stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, in the Wilcoxen Funeral Home at Point Pleasant, W.Va., with Minister Lewis Mikell officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery at Gallipolis. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008.
