Plea ends B&E case

GALLIPOLIS — A case against a Crown City man was recently resolved in Gallia County Common Pleas Court after he pled guilty to one count of breaking and entering last week.

Jason E. Halley, 32, 862 Elliott Road, was sentenced to two years of community control after entering a change of plea into court on March 11.

He was indicted last July as he did by force, stealth, or deception trespass into a barn at the intersection of Elliott and Little Perigen roads in Harrison Township with the purpose to commit a theft offense.

Halley was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3,510.56 to Mike Nichols of Crown City.

Indictments recently unsealed include:

  • Scott A. Peck, 42, 962 Ward Road, Bidwell, has been charged with disrupting public service.

    According to the indictment, on or about Dec. 4, 2008 it is alleged that he purposely, by any means or knowingly, by damaging or tampering with property did interrupt or impair telephone service.

    Peck pled not guilty to the charge and was released on his own recognizance under a $10,000 bond with an additional bond of $1,000 ten percent secured.

    His jury trial is scheduled for July 17, 2008 at 9 a.m.

  • Stephon T. Lewis, 23, Columbus, has been charged with two counts of possession of drugs.

    According to count one of the indictment it is alleged that he did knowingly obtain, possess, or use 14.5 grams of crack cocaine. Count two reads that he allegedly did knowingly obtain, possess, or use 13 grams of heroin.

    He pled not guilty to the charges and was placed under a $40,000 ten percent bond with an additional bond of $1,000 ten percent secured.
