GALLIPOLIS — The Gallipolis man originally charged with severely beating his ex-girlfriend and holding her against her will for several days pled guilty to a reduced charge in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court recently and was sentenced to community control.
Andre Geiger, 21, 6929 Ohio 588, Gallipolis, who was indicted by the April 19, 2007 grand jury on one count of kidnapping and one count of felonious assault, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was placed on 36 months community control and 30 days in the Gallia County Jail.
In addition, Geiger was ordered to be evaluated by TASC, perform 500 hours community service, with all but 60 days stayed, which will be further stayed if he retains at least 35 hours per week employment, ordered to register with Ohio Employment Services and pay court costs.
According to court records, the plea bargain was made at the request of the victim.
A Bidwell woman originally sentenced to community control is now headed to prison following a new indictment for possession of drugs.
Sandy Patterson, 24, Apartment 1, 144 Clark Chapel Road, Bidwell, who was indicted on May 19, 2006 on four counts of forgery, pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and was sentenced to 24 months community control.
On March 27, 2007, Patterson was arraigned for violating that community control in several ways, including associating with people also on probation, failing to provide proof of employment, failing to appear for officer visits, failing to make ordered payments and restitution and testing positive for drugs.
On Sept. 5, 2007, Patterson pleaded guilty to the violations and was sentenced to the Ohio Reformatory for Women for 11 months.
In addition to the community control violations charge, Patterson was also indicted by the Aug. 17 grand jury for possession of crack cocaine. She also pleaded guilty to the possession charge during the arraignment and was sentenced to another 11 months in prison, a six- month suspended license and court costs.
Both sentences were ordered to be served consecutively for a total of 22 months.
Other cases recently resolved were:
Charity Kinney, 31, 82 Arnold Drive, Bidwell, who was indicted on March 23 for theft, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 months community control, 500 hours community service, with all but 40 stayed, which will be further stayed if she retains at least 35 hours per week employment, ordered to register with Ohio Employment Services, ordered to get her GED, ordered to pay $3,494 in restitution to the Gallia County Department of Jobs and Family Services and ordered to pay court costs.
The case against Rosalyn Lewis, 27, who was indicted on one count of endangering children, was dismissed at the request of the state due to Lewis making a plea in the Gallipolis Municipal Court.
The case against Dustin Deckard, 26, Point Pleasant, W.Va., who was indicted for receiving stolen property, was dismissed at the request of the state because full restitution had been paid.
