Dear Editor:

My name is Zach Mayes. I attend the First Church of God on State Route 141 where Pastor Paul Voss preaches. Over the summer, I went to a place called Craigsville Church of God camp meeting in West Virginia with my grandparents for the fourth year in a row. This is a place where we can relax, worship, learn, meet other Christians and praise God together.

The camp meeting has dorms and camper space available for us to stay. They provide breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks at an extremely low cost. They also have activities and time for worship for both youth and adults, such as the evening night service where everyone attends. This is where we can listen to gospel and contemporary music and listen to good Church of God preaching.

The motto at the Craigsville camp meeting is “A Little Taste of Heaven.” I have never been to Heaven yet, but I can imagine that it will be somewhat like the Craigsville camp meeting. There is no stress, grief or any troubles, we are totally and completely isolated from the sinful outside world. Many people have been saved, re-saved, anointed with oil, put back on their Godly path and got rid of their sinful ways at Craigsville camp meeting.

We as Christians need to attend this powerhouse of worship. The Church of God is like no other church I have ever seen. There are so many caring people that are ready to worship and fight for the Lord when the battles come. If you want to go to a church such as this, I strongly suggest that you attend The First Church of God and then possibly go to Craigsville Church of God camp meeting. God bless and I hope to see you at church.

Zach Mayes
