Board approves new contract for treasurer

GALLIPOLIS — A new contract for the treasurer of the Gallia County Local Schools topped a series of personnel actions taken by the board of education when it met Monday.

Under the provisions of House Bill 671, the board approved termination of Sandra Foster’s contract that ends on Dec. 31, and granted her a five-year contract effective Aug. 1 and ending July 31, 2012.

The action was approved unanimously. Board member Joyce Boothe was absent.

The board accepted the resignations of teachers Christine Dutta and Amy Shriver, both effective at the end of the 2006-07 contractural year.

Karen Waugh was granted a supplemental contract for 2007-08 as junior varsity cheerleader advisor at South Gallia High School.

The board also approved sending Mike Polcyn as delegate to the Ohio School Boards Association Capitol Conference in Columbus on Nov. 11-14, with Terry Halley as the alternate.

A contract with the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center Regional Gifted Consortium was approved at the rate of 63 cents per student, and a lease agreement was renewed with Merrill and Jane Ann Brucker for use of their property across from RVHS.
