John C. Barry, 69, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007, at his residence.

John was a former employee of the Gallipolis Developmental Center, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

He was born May 15, 1938, in Gallia County to the late Carl C. and Mildred Leasure Barry.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ross Barry, whom he married on April 22, 1961, in Mount Airy, N.C.; a daughter, Anita Jo (Steven) Buck of Chauncey; a grandson, Zachary Buck; a sister, Joann (Floyd) Johnson of Bidwell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Jeannie Ross of Bidwell, Sharon and Bill Cummons of Hilliard, and Billy Gene and Judy Ross of Delaware, Ohio; a special aunt, Doris Montgomery of Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence Barry; and a sister, Marilene Valentine.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Willis Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in the Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Richard Ross, Barry Johnson, David Cummons, Rick Sydenstricker, Don Kingery and Eddie VanMatre.

There will be full military honors at the cemetery by volunteers of area veteran lodges.
