David was a professional truck driver for Austin Powder in McArthur. He was also a former employee of Robbins and Myers, and had been a licensed social worker at Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health.
David was a graduate of the University of Rio Grande, and had several courses towards his master's degree from Ohio University. He also graduated from Shawnee Hills Truck Academy in Portsmouth.
He was born July 4, 1957, in Columbus, to Donna Randolph Blake and Donald R. Blake.
David is survived by his wife, Kathy Brumfield Blake of Hamden, whom he married on Feb. 2, 2004; two sons, David (Rachael) Blake II of Bidwell, and Douglas Blake of New York; a daughter, Melony (Patrick Brown) Blake of Virginia; his mother, Donna Blake of Bidwell; his father, Donald R. (Wanda) Blake of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister, Sandra (Richard) Knepper-Cox of Gallipolis; and a brother, Darren Blake of Logan; two stepsons, Clayton Ponn of Wilkesville, and Roy Ponn, U.S. Army in Germany; grandchildren, Jessica, Christian and Victoria Blake; and stepgrandchildren, Jaden Leach and Scotty Jones.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie Green Blake, in 2001; and by a grandson, Ethan David Blake, in 2005.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2007, at the Willis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services.
Pallbearers will be David Blake II, Douglas Blake, Shawn Dail, Tim Knepper and Junior Adkins.
