GALLIPOLIS — A Bidwell woman faces prison time following a guilty plea to two separate community control violations charges and one 2007 grand jury indictment.

Sandra K. Cordell, 50, 14948 Ohio 554, Bidwell, pled guilty to community control violations in two 2006 cases, one in which she was sentenced to two years community control for illegal use of food stamps or WIC program benefits and one in which she was sentenced to two years community control for forgery.

According to court records, Cordell was arrested on March 30, 2007 for violating the terms of her community control by failing to report to her community control officer, testing positive for cocaine, consuming alcoholic beverages, failing to pay court costs, failing to do community service and failing to obtain employment.

She was sentenced to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections for 11 months for each offense to be served consecutively.

In addition to the two community control violations, Cordell also pled guilty to a 2007 possession of drugs charge.

She was sentenced to prison for 11 months to be served concurrently with the other two sentences for a total of 22 months.

Another Bidwell woman awaits sentencing after a 12 person jury found her guilty of theft and forgery in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

According to court records, Elizabeth M. Stout, 33, 7160 Ohio 160, Bidwell was indicted on Dec. 19, 2006 on one count of theft for, with the purpose to deprive the Ohio Valley Bank Co. of $17,627.85, knowingly obtaining or exerting control over said property by deception and on one count of forgery for, with the purpose to defraud or knowing that she was facilitating a fraud, forging a counter check in the amount of $1,000 on the account of an elderly person or disabled adult.

Both charges are fourth degree felonies.

Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday July 12, 2007 at 10 a.m.
