Dear Editor:
Child abuse in Gallia County - should parents or anyone else in Gallia County who is around kids be allowed to abuse them in any way and keep them?
No, they should not. I have seen it one too many times, people hurting their kids physically, sexually and mentally. What does our judicial system do about it? They may take the kids away from there parents or whoever has custody of them for a month or even up to a year, but instantly, little ones end back up in the hands of there abusive families.
Is it right? No, it isn't. You give the kids to foster parents and the judicial system says that they are going to make sure the kids do not go back to the homes where the abuse is. You lead the foster parents to believe that if they want to adopt the kids they will be able to. You say just hang in there, it won't be much longer, then when it comes right down to it, you end up giving the kids back to their abusive families. It's not right.
I am against abuse in anyway there is, and it seems to me that if you all were against it, you wouldn't be giving these littles back. These kids haven't done anything to deserve what is happening to them. They are a gift from God. There are families out there that can't be blessed with children and there are also families out there that lose their little ones to illness or an accident. And you people give the little ones back to unfit homes. Why not give them to someone that can love and care for them the way that they are supposed to be treated, instead of keeping them in homes where they are getting beat on, sexually assaulted or having mental abuse done to them?
Where is this going to end at? Is it going to have to come to death for the abuse to end? These children are suffering every day, and the judicial system is just sitting back and letting it happen. It's a question a lot of people ask every day. I think our judicial system needs to start pulling together and protect our children of Gallia County.
