GALLIPOLIS - Two 2006 grand jury indictments were resolved recently in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court, both resulting in community service for the defendants.

Robert R. Simmons, 29, 254 Merry Road, Bidwell, indicted on Oct. 19, 2006 for unlawful sexual conduct with a 15-year-old minor, pled guilty to endangering children and was sentenced to 36 months community control.

As part of his community control agreement, Simmons was also ordered to serve 90 days in the Gallia County jail; submit to a FACTS evaluation; register with OES; serve 500 hours of community service with all but 60 hours stayed, which will be further stayed if Simmons retains at least 35 hours per week employment; pay court costs; and have no contact with the victim.

Paul A. Miller, 45, 129 Hubbard Ave., Gallipolis, who was indicted on Dec. 19, 2006 for possession of drugs and permitting drug abuse, pled guilty to both charges and was sentenced to 24 months community control.

Miller was also ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation; serve 500 hours of community service with all but 60 hours stayed, which will be further stayed if Simmons retains at least 35 hours per week employment; register with OES; pay all costs; and received a six month suspension on his driver's license.
