Korb takes early lead at Riverside

MASON, W.Va. - Willis Korb of Guysville has taken an early lead in the 2007 edition of the Riverside Senior Men's Golf League.

Korb has a total of 26 points to lead Richard Mabe of Point Pleasant, W.Va. and Mick Winebrenner of Racine by a mere 1.5 points after two weeks of play.

Rounding out the top 10 in the early points standings is Curtis Grubb (22.5), Charlie Hargraves (21.0), Jack Maloney (19.5), Chet Thomas (18), Lew Gilland (18), Dan Littlefield (18) and Gene Gray (18).

A total of 39 players were on hand for the second week despite the cold weather and frost delay. Nine teams of four players and a three man team made it possible to score 10 points for the round.

The winning score of 60 was recorded by the team of Mick Winebrenner, Richard Mabe, Dick Dugan and Garald Kelly. Second place with a score 63 was the team of Willis Korb, Ray Oliver, Rick Northup and Joe Long and third place with a score of 64 was the team of Jack Maloney, Dick Tennant, Curtis Grubb and Russ Wood.

The closest to the pin winners were Chet Thomas on hole No. 7 and Jack Maloney on hold No. 14. The seniors welcome all new players who want to have some Tuesday morning fun to come and join.
