GALLIPOLIS - Patrolman Mike Fulks, a 27-year veteran of the Gallipolis Police Department, was named its 2007 Officer of the Year on March 9.
Officer of the year is voted on by members of the department, who are asked to select one of their own that has demonstrated honesty, integrity, loyalty to the department, knowledge of the job and how that knowledge is applied.
Also chosen, for the first time this year, was 2007 Reserve Officer of the Year, Patrolman Steve Wallis, an 18-year veteran.
“This is an honor given to them by their fellow officers,” said Chief Clinton Patterson. “Both are fine officers and I congratulate them on this honor.”
Both officers received a plaque and a uniform ribbon.
