GALLIPOLIS - One thing was set at the first River Rec committee meeting, held Tuesday at the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce - they want local entertainment.

Co-chaired by J.R. Sauer and Jimmy Wiseman, the committee would like to see area bands headline this year's festival.

Any bands interested in performing at River Rec should contact the River Rec Entertainment Committee at 446-0596 or P.O. Box 465, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 for more information.

This year, Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday.

“One of things we're taking into consideration is the line-up of events,” Sauer said. “(The Fourth being on a Wednesday) is going to make it difficult.”

The festival is scheduled for July 3-7 and the committee is still discussing when the parade, fireworks and other annual events will take place.

Heading the committees are: Amusement Rides, Lorie Neal; Concessions, Ray McKinniss; Entertainment, Melissa Davis; Fireworks, Mike Soles; Fund-raising, Terry Lloyd; Gospel Day, Lorie Neal; Kids Day, Tom Hopkins; Lil' Miss & Mister Contest, Kim Caldwell; Logistics, Bonnie Williams; Parade/Split the Pot, Robbie Jenkins; Public Relations, Lorie Neal; Auction, Josh Bodimer; Queen's Contest, Jamie Sexton; Volunteers, Bob Hood; Jr. Miss, Robin Warren; Safety, city of Gallipolis; and Crafters, Amy Miller.

Anyone interested in volunteering or helping to sponsor River Rec should contact the River Rec Committee at 446-0596.
