MERCERVILLE — The South Gallia Lady Rebels stood their ground taking down the Lady Soldiers from Grace Christian School in a high school volleyball game on Tuesday evening.

South Gallia improved its record to 11-10 for the season after beating the Grace in three straight games by scores of 25-10, 25-19, 25-23.

The Lady Rebels made it look easy during the first game of the match, then Grace Christian came alive in the second, playing the Rebels point-for-point.

The Soldiers even took the lead 18-14 at one point. South Gallia called timeout and the Lady Rebels came out of the huddle fighting for every volley and winning most of those to rally and win the second game 25-19.

Down 18-13 in the third, the Rebels made it look as if they were going to let the Lady Soldiers have the game. Through team work and communication, South Gallia battled back to tie it at 20, at 22 and 23 before finally shutting the Lady Soldiers down for good and gaining the 25-23 win.

Leading at the service line for the Lady Rebels were Niki Fulks with 16 points and Glenna Wright with eight — both had six aces. Chelsea Canaday, Ashley Clary, Kelsey Wells, Megan Delaney all served for five points. Rachel Merry added three points and an ace.

Defending at the net, Delaney led the Rebels with seven blocks, Fulks added two.

On the offensive side, Fulks was 12-for-14 at the spike line with seven kills and 18 assists, Canaday went 10-for-11 with seven kills and 23 assists.

South Gallia won the reserve game were 25-16, 23-25, 25-19.
