Ashley Clary served the final four points to give South Gallia game two, then the Lady Rebels won the deciding game to beat Nelsonville-York 2-1 during a tri-match on Saturday.
The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Buckeyes by scores of 20-25, 25-22 and 25-16 and completed the sweep with a 2-0 win over Sciotoville East 26-24, 25-18. Nelsonville-York beat Sciotoville in the middle contest.
“Our kids have a lot of confidence right now,” explained South Gallia coach Amy Shriver.
The wins gave South Gallia its fourth straight victory and upped its record to 7-4 on the year. The loss was only the second this season for Nelsonville-York (7-2), currently tied for first in the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division.
South Gallia actually trailed in the third and final game against N-Y 6-3 in the early going, and was still trailing at 11-9. Glenna Wright, though, served five consecutive aces to give her Lady Rebels a 15-11 lead. South Gallia stayed in front and Chelsea Canaday served out the match with three straight points.
Wright led the Lady Rebels with 15 points and 10 aces during the win. Niki Fulks added 11 points while Clary, Allie West and Canaday all chipped in six.
Fulks was the leading spiker with seven kills. Wright, West and Canaday all had three. Canaday set them up with 22 assists.
Fulks had nine points (six aces), six kills and five blocks as South Gallia dominated the net play during the victory over Sciotoville. Megan Delaney also had five blocks and added a trio of kills.
Clary, Wright and Canaday had five points each and Canaday handed out 24 assists.
