GALLIPOLIS - A call to the Gallia County Sheriff's Department that shots had been fired at a Patriot residence and that an unidentified woman was being held against her will ultimately ended in the raid of a methamphetamine laboratory, or meth-lab.

According to a news release by the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, debuties responded to 212 Cadmus Road, Patriot, Ohio early Monday morning to do a well being check on the woman.

Upon arriving at the home, deputies made contact with a male resident, 40 year old Christopher L. Hively.

Also present was Paula G. Coleman-Baier, 37, Falling Rock, W.Va., who was the reported girlfriend of Hively and also living at the residence.

According to the Sheriff's department, evidence was found that Coleman-Baier had been assaulted and shots had been fired at a vehicle owned and driven by Eddie Holley, Bidwell; a friend of Hively's.

Holley's vehicle was damaged, but no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

Hively remains the only suspect in the shooting.

According to Holley, Coleman-Baier asked him to give her a ride from the residence because she feared for her safety as a result of an argument between herself and Hively earlier that morning.

After the shooting, Hively allegedly took Coleman-Baier from the truck at gunpoint and ordered Holley off the property.

Deputies obtained a search warrant while at the residence to recover evidence in the alleged felonious assault and domestic violence. While executing the search warrant, they stumbled onto a suspected meth-lab at the residence.

The search was discontinued and all law enforcement personnel were ordered to leave the residence for safety reasons.

A second search warrant was obtained for the residence and specially trained Gallia County deputies and a meth lab trained team from the Jackson County Sheriff's office were summoned to the scene.

The District Three-Greenfield Fire Department also responded and stood by for safety reasons.

A Haz-Mat disposal team, under contract for the Drug Enforcement Agency, arrived at the scene and took approximately 99 pounds of meth waste from the residence.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Hively was charged with felonious assault and the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs.

Coleman-Baier was charged with complicity to the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs.

Additional charges will most likely be filed.
