He was born June 14, 1922, in Jackson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, John George and Emma (Tilley) Davis.
He was a retired supervisor at American Electric Power, with 33 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, a member of BPOE, VFW and the Wellston American Legion, and was the founder of the Apple City Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Erma Jean (Finney) Davis; a son, John (Ruthie) Davis of Patriot; a brother, Ralph (Rusty) Davis of Oak Hill; a special nephew, Delmar (Carol) Stiffler of Columbus; two grandchildren, Hollie (Mark) Henner of Rio Grande, and John P. “J.P.” Davis III of Patriot; and three great-grandchildren, Cory, Courtney and Curtis.
Friends may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Jackson on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Anderson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
