The America in Bloom project is going to be even better. This is an excellent opportunity for all people in the community, young and old, to show their pride in Gallipolis. The Gallipolis America in Bloom Committee is planning a planting day on April 29. We not only need to help in preparing and planting the flower beds, we also need help collecting donations, purchasing flowers, soil, fertilizer and so on, providing refreshments on planting day, and maintaining the flower beds throughout the summer.
There are many ways that you or your group could help with this project. If you or your group can participate in the planting day, that would be good. If your group would like to commit to planting and maintaining an area all summer, that would be even better. We realize that many citizens don't have the resources or ability to work all summer, so donations would help us purchase the necessary flowers, soil, fertilizer and so on. If you would like to participate in the project through a financial donation, great! There are needs in all these areas. This would be a great community service project for your 4-H group, scout troop or church youth group.
We are very excited about planting pride in the old French City. If you would like to help with this project in any way at all, please contact the Gallia County Visitors Center at 446-6882 or Karen Smith at 446-1998. Financial donations should be made to the Gallia County Visitors Center and can be dropped off or mailed to 63 Court St., Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
