McARTHUR - A trial will begin March 29 in Vinton County Common Pleas Court for a Vinton man charged in connection with a man's death last year, authorities said.

Judge Jeffrey Simmons is expected to preside over a three-day trial for Donovan K. Cremeens, 19.

Cremeens was arrested by Vinton County authorities shortly after the slaying of 53-year-old Marvin Hunt of Ewington on Jan. 14, 2005.

Cremeens, indicted last year for aggravated murder, is represented by Athens attorney Herman Carson. His trial was originally scheduled for last September, but was postponed at the request of Cremeens' then-attorney, William Henderson of Logan. Henderson withdrew from the case late last year, Vinton County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Gleeson said.

Aggravated murder, an unclassified felony, carries a penalty of 15 years to life imprisonment.

Cremeens and Ruth Ann Wood, 38, of Dexter, were charged with luring Hunt to a cemetery near Wilkesville. Wood shot Hunt to death and Cremeens is alleged to have driven Wood's car over Hunt after the shooting. Hunt was discovered later by a Vinton County sheriff's deputy while he patrolled the cemetery.

Wood later pled guilty to murder with a gun specification. She was sentenced on Oct. 24 to 15 years to life on the murder charge and an additional three years on the gun specification.

She is serving her sentence at the Marysville Correctional Facility for Women. Trial for Wood was also slated for last September, but the court granted a request for a continuance from her attorney, John K. Clark Jr. of Wellston.
