SOUTH POINT - Behind the strong shooting of Jeremiah Taylor, who put up 27 points, the South Point Pointers cruised to a 62-44 victory Wednesday evening in South Point as the Raiders dropped their fourth straight game.
Taylor and the Pointers (5-4, 2-2) came out strong from the beginning, putting up 17 points in the first quarter while holding River Valley (4-6, 1-3) to only six points.
The Raiders continued to struggle in the second as South Point put up 14 more and held River Valley to 11 points, led on the night by Bryan Morrow with 12 points in the contest.
River Valley finally picked up the pace in the second half, keeping up with the Pointers, but it proved too much as South Point's early lead held on as the Pointers grabbed the 18-point victory.
South Point was led by Taylor with 27 points and eight rebounds, followed by Chase McWhorter with 14 points, J.T. Terry with nine points, Jerrell Dean with four points and Heath Bridges, Kyle Hughes, Beau Weed and Joey Stephens scored two points each.
For River Valley, the Raiders were led by Morrow with 12, Cory Ehman with eight points, Jason Jones, Matt Nibert, Michael Cordell and Ryan Henry with six points each.
Following the loss, River Valley tries to get back on the winning track when they return home for a 6 p.m. matchup Saturday against Rock Hill.
