Born Jan. 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Homer A. and Eva D. Faulkner Hartley. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard S. "Dick" Owen, whom she married on Sept. 3, 1955; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ron Baird, Westerville; son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Jeannie Owen, Pomeroy; four grandchildren: Jonathan, Michael and Rebecca Owen, Pomeroy, and John Baird, Westerville; two sisters, Ida "Bush" (Jim) Roller, Waldorf, Md., and Nancy (Henry) Cooper, Liberty, Mo.; aunt, Jean Johnson, Brunswick; cousin, Jack (Jean Ann) Hartley, Charleston, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Betty Owen, Worthington; brothers-in-law, Bill (Eileen) Owen, Indianapolis, Ind., Jim (Phyllis) Owen, Upper Arlington, and Dan Lane, Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a sister, June Hartley (Owen) Cantrell; sisters-in-law, Jackie Owen and Jane Lane, and an aunt, and several uncles and nephews.
A graduate of Middleport High School, she was valedictorian of the Class of 1947, and owned and operated Heritage House of Shoes in Middleport. She was a member of the B.H. Sanborn Missionary Society of First Baptist Church, Middleport; past-president of the Middleport Literary Club, and a member of the Galloping Canasta Club and the Monday and Thursday Bridge Club.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Fisher Funeral Home, 264 S. 2nd Ave., Middleport.
Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Baird and the Rev. Lamar O'Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
