Sharon S. Bales Banks, 60, Gallipolis, went home to be with her Lord at 9:20 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the Holzer Medical Center. Born April 15, 1951, in McDowell County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Marvin L. Bales of Wellston, Ohio, and the late Jeanette Ellen Holbrook Bales. Sharon served in the U.S. Army from July, 1966 to September, 1970. She was a nurse in the cardio-pulmonary unit at Holzer Clinic.

In addition to her father and step-mother, Anna Bales, Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, Timothy Banks; son, Thomas L. (Tomie Kay) Morse, Millsboro, Delaware; daughter, Jamie (Jim) Holbert, Sandyville, West Virginia, and daughter, Danielle Reed, Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren, Katie Holbert, Zachary Morse, Alexandria Davis, Lee Davis, Jazz Morse, Jimmie Dalton and Kerstein Reed; and sister, Faye (Charles) Williams, Vinton, Ohio; brothers, Marvin Bales Jr., Ronoahe Rapids, North Carolina, Paul (Debbie) Bales, Lancaster, Ohio, Michael (Debbie) Bales, Wellston, Ohio, and Dwayne Bales; Jackson as well as several nieces, nephews and special friends, Debbie (Bill) Baker, Ruthie (John) Davis, Sue Ellen (Ray) Biland and Camillia (Jim) Broyles. In additon to her mother she was preceded in death by Iredda Bales, in whose home Sharon was raised after her mother had passed away.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Gallipolis Christian Church, 4486 State Route 588, Gallipolis. In keeping with Sharon’s wishes there are no calling hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sharon’s memory to the American Cancer Society,  870 Michigan Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215.
