Forum to offer reform input

GALLIPOLIS — Holzer Clinic will host a health care community discussion to help guide reform of the U.S. health system by providing strategic input to the Obama-Biden Health Policy Transition Team.

The discussion is set for 2 p.m. Friday at the John W. Berry Fine and Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College.

Clinic officials said confirmed attendees include State Sen. John Carey, State Rep. Clyde Evans, district representatives for U.S. Sen. George Voinovich and U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson, local elected officials, area health care administration and physicians as well as other interested individuals from throughout the region.

The event is moderated by Dr. Nicholas Economides and will focus on:

• Improving healthcare quality and costs.

• Expanding coverage and access.

• Increasing the emphasis on primary care and prevention.
