Ralph Edward Angel, age 86, of Crown City, ‘Went to be with his Lord’ on Thursday morning, March 31, 2011, at Holzer Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1924, in the Bladen Community, Gallia County, Ohio. He was the son of the late Brady and Belva Martin Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one son, Johnny Angel; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Angel Powell; brothers, Donald, James and Raymond (Bill) Angel, and by one infant brother, Ernest Eugene Angel; brothers-in-law, Francis Crouse, Kenneth Bray, Howard Fellure, Ernest Hively, Bill Stewart, and John Houck; Sisters-in-law, Carrie B. Angel, Linda F. Angel, Irene Hively and Bernice Houck; nephews, Marion Joe Clary, Michael R. Gibson, Bill Eugene Angel  and James Hively; nieces, Joann Angel Swain, Jill Angel Preece, Sandy Perkins and Juanita Hively; and by his father and mother-in-law, John and Eva Wears Stewart.

Ralph was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He retired from road construction, was a farmer and a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Stewart Angel, who he married on July 3, 1946; two sons, Ronald (Joanna) Angel of Gallipolis, and Kevin  (Anna) Angel of Crown City; grandchildren, Ronald Chad Angel of Huntington, W.Va., John Matthew (Angela) Angel, Michael S. (Melissa) Angel, and their mother, Romona (Larry) Lane of Crown City; Kimberly (Jason) Rollins of Georgia and Crystal Angel of Crown City; great grandchildren, Macy Powell, Keeley Powell, of Gallipolis, Ohio; Raven Storm Angel and Ava Angel of Crown City, Ohio, and Kason Rollins; brothers, Shirley (Lin) Angel, Brady Junior (Rosemary) Angel, Charles Roger (Vickie) Angel of Crown City, Ohio; brother-in-law, Jim Clary; sisters, Betty Angel Crouse of Gallipolis, Ohio; Josephine (Irwin) Gibson, Coshocton, Ohio; Myrtle Irene (Basil) Holley of Bidwell, Ohio; Dorothy (Donald) Perkins of Gallipolis, Ohio; Barbara Chambers (Friend, George Haubil) of Sarasota, Florida; Lucy Bray (Pat) Westover of Streetman, Texas; Audrey M. (Lowen C.) Saunders, of Crown City, Ohio, and Pauline (Mike) Jeffers, of Westerville, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Audrey Angel of Gallipolis, Ohio; Juanita Angel of Crown City; Peggy Stewart of Thurman, Ohio, and Ruby Stewart of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday April 3, 2011, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home.

Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Ohio Army National Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
