SOUTHSIDE — Two Mason County men have been arrested on sexual assault and sexual abuse charges. Timothy J. Double, 57, and his son, Anthony J. Double, 23, were transported to the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville on Tuesday following their arrests.

The arrests stemmed from an incident that took place in February. According to Sgt. E.B. Starcher of the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, on Feb. 15, Trooper S.C. Allen began investigating a complaint that he received from Anthony Double’s probation officer, Lori James.

The complaint indicated possible sexual contact between Anthony Double and the victim. Also, on Feb. 15 in a recorded audio statement Double told Allen that he had sexually assaulted the victim on two occasions. Double also reported that the assault took place at 7747 16 Mile Creek Drive in Southside.

Later, on March 7, Allen sat in on an interview that was conducted between the victim and Marin Runyon of CAMC Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Charleston. Also, on March 7, in a recorded audio statement to Allen, Anthony Double admitted to sexually abusing the victim on three occasions.
