The Gallia-Meigs Post of the OSHP reported a number of accidents over the weekend, though no fatalities or serious injuries resulted. At least ten accidents were reported in Gallia and Meigs counties along with several deer crashes and one collision between a cow and a Chevy.

The following Ohio traffic fatalities are for the holiday weekend reporting period of Dec. 30, 2008, at 6 p.m. through Jan. 4, 2009 at midnight:

• Two fatal crashes resulting in two killed occurred on state and federal highways.

• One fatal crash resulting in one killed occurred on a county/township road.

• Two fatal crashes resulting in six killed occurred on city streets.

• One fatal crash resulting in one killed occurred on an interstate highway outside of a city.

Of ten individuals killed, one was reported to have used a safety belt, while two reportedly did not use a safety belt, and seven were unknown regarding the usage of safety belts.
