GALLIPOLIS — A Gallia County woman was recently arraigned in the Gallia County Court of Common Pleas following her arrest in November by deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office.

Carrie L. Wooten, 22, Bidwell, was arraigned and charged with one count of drug possession, one count of the illegal conveyance of drugs and one count of tampering with evidence on Feb. 24, all third degree felonies.

The charges in this case follow an incident that occurred on Nov. 4, 2010, when Wooten, as well as Whitney J. Wooten, 25, Bidwell, were arrested by deputies following a traffic stop.

Reportedly, at approximately 2:59 a.m. on the day in question, a vehicle being driven by Whitney Wooten was stopped on Buckridge Road in Spring Valley following a stop sign violation.

Whitney Wooten and her passenger Carrie Wooten were arrested at the scene on warrants issued through the Gallipolis Municipal Court.

After being transported to the Gallia County Jail, 10 Oxycontin tablets were allegedly located on Carrie Wooten’s person.

During her arraignments, Wooten pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. Wooten’s bond was set at $30,000 own recognizance with an additional bond of $1,500, 10 percent.

A status conference in this case has been scheduled for April 18. A negotiated plea may be filed with the clerk of courts by May 23.

Carrie Wooten posted bond for her release on Feb. 24. Further charges in this case have not been reported.

In a separate case, Whitney Wooten was arraigned in the common pleas court on one count of drug possession and one count of tampering with evidence after an incident that occurred early in February.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, Whitney Wooten was arrested by a deputy on a warrant at a residence located on Woodsmill Road. While being searched, Wooten allegedly flipped an object out of her pants pocket, an object later identified as an Oxycontin tablet.

During her arraignment on Feb. 16, Wooten pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. A status conference in this case has been set for April 7. A negotiated plea may be filed with the clerk of courts by June 6.
