He was born on May 1, 1944 in Portland, son of the late Thomas Daniel Sayre and Juanita Marie Furbee Sayre. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Pomeroy.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Sayre of Portland; son, Michael (Lisa) Sayre of Columbus; granddaughter, Gianna Sayre; daughter-in-law, Nicole Sayre of Akron; grandson, Thomas Colton Sayre; brother-in-law, Gary (Debi) Neace of Columbus; nephews, David (Kim) Neace of Estero, Fla., and Taylor Neace of Columbus; brother, T. Dwain (Marilyn) Sayre of Upper Sandusky; step father-in-law, Roddie Hatfield of Roanoke, Va.; step sisters-in-law: Barbara Mays, Peggy Smith, Hilda Trent and Kaye Mullins; and step brother-in-law, Randy Hatfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Christopher Sayre.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church with Pastors Lamar O'Bryant and David Brainard officiating.
Burial will follow at the Letart Falls Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Registry is available at www.andersonmcdaniel.com.
