Guns, drugs seized in raid at Leon residence

LEON — Drug paraphernalia, money and firearms were seized by members of the Mason County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division I.C.E.E. (Intensified Criminal Enforcement Effort) Unit early Wednesday morning during a raid at a Leon residence.

Deputies executed a search warrant at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Capehart Road residence of Stephen Winter, 49, Leon. Winter was not at the residence during the raid.

Mason Co. Sheriff David Anthony said this case in still under investigation and arrests will be made in the near future. Sgt. R.E. Fruth II and Dep. Terry L. Powell are investigating the case.

Approximately one pound of marijuana was found along with cocaine, prescription pills, money and 27 firearms with ammunition.

Anthony encourages the residents of Mason County to pass along to his office any information they might have concerning drug-related activity in the area.

“This case was developed from tips within the area, and has been going on for quite some time,” Anthony stated. “We would like for any residents with information to call in and give information to the department. It will be investigated and is greatly appreciated.”
