Residents can achieve this winter wonderland experience with the West Virginia State Farm Museum’s Holiday Light Festival, slated to begin Friday at 6 p.m. The annual light festival illuminates the museum grounds as all of the classic building are adorned in holiday lights and decor.
Following Friday’s kick off, the light festival will run from 6-9 p.m. each night through Monday, Dec. 20. Santa Claus will make an appearance each evening during the light festival. Free hot chocolate and cookies also will be available. Each year the annual light show draws several local residents as well as those from surrounding states.
Other holiday events slated for this weekend include the Mason County Family Resource Network’s Family Christmas event, slated to take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Mason County Board of Education Office. All children who participate in the event will have the opportunity to both make and take home crafts. Children also can have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.
The Town of Mason’s Christmas Parade is set for Saturday as well. The parade will take place at 11 a.m. Following the parade, Santa Claus will be at the city building. There also will be a craft sale at 9 a.m. in the city building’s community room.
