Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Cadmus School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a former cable engineer retiring in 1983 from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Pioneers of America.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Taylor; two sisters, Mary Ruth Childers and Anna Bonice.
He is survived by daughter, Dawn Cecil of Kitts Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ray Sweeney of Wheelersburg, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Tony Knipp of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Jeana and Harry Wigglesworth of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Amy Bowen and her husband, Andrew of Scottown, Clara Clement of Ironton, Tara Sweeney and her fiance’, Fred Jordan of Wheelersburg, Amanda Nelson of Kitts Hill, Lauren Knipp of Athens, OH, Chris Sweeney of Flatwoods, Ky., and Daniel Clement of Ironton; six great grandchildren, Cody Pruitt, Savannah Sweeney, Taylor Sueann Jordan, Delaney Sweeney, Dustin Clement and Ryan Clement.
Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio. Burial will follow in Hatfield Cemetery with military graveside rites by V.F.W. Post 8850. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
