GALLIPOLIS — The City of Gallipolis has canceled a boil advisory that had been issued on Wednesday following two water main breaks.

According to a press release issued by the city, it is no longer necessary for residents to boil water prior to use. Water samples have been tested and were found to be safe.

The water main breaks occurred Tuesday night along Third Avenue near the intersection with Olive Street and early Wednesday morning near the corner of Chatham and Gallia avenues. City workers had both lines repaired and water service restored by Wednesday afternoon.
