GALLIPOLIS — Some amazing achievements were recently recognized in the local sports community.

Gallia Academy High School, prior to Friday night’s boys basketball game, honored the school’s 1,000-point scorers in basketball.

Former longtime Gallia Academy boys basketball coach Jim Osborne presented each of the honorees, which included Jackie Wamsley, Micah Curfman and Brianna Johnson, Gil Price, John Milhoan and Sarah Evans. Other 1,000-point scorers unable to attend were Nancy Evans, Lori Hamilton, Mindy Pope, Susan Tackett, Kendra Barnes, Kristi Thomas, Jim Thomas and the late Larry Mitchell.

Also on Friday just before tip off, Gallia Academy also honored the school’s five state placers in the sport of wrestling. Former GAHS head wrestling coach Craig Wright presented each of the honorees which are Jeptha Robinson, Zack Tackett, Jared Gravely, Brandon Taylor and Cole Tawney.

Also last week, Ohio Valley Christian School unveiled a sign honoring the school’s 1,000-point scorers which included John Keenan, Pete Carman, Adam Holcomb, Elijah McDonald, T.G. Miller, Marshall Hood, Emily Carman, Rachel Sargent and Madison Crank. Unable to attend were Bo Pollard, Abby Meyn, Hallie Carter.
