PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — More proof of just how dominant the Blue Angels can be.
The Gallia Academy volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference victory over host Fairland, on Tuesday night in Lawrence County.
After a 1-1 tie in the opening game, Gallia Academy went on a 11-0 run to break the game wide open. GAHS (16-0, 9-0) never trailed in the first, winning by a 25-9 final margin.
FHS led 1-0 in the second, but didn’t manage another service point in the game. Gallia Academy won the second game by a decisive 25-4 tally, moving ahead 2-0 in the match.
The Lady Dragons led by as much as four (9-5) early in the third game, but GAHS answered with a 20-to-5 run to seal the 3-0 win and the season sweep of FHS.
Ashton Webb led the Blue Angel service attack with 18 points and seven aces. Carly Shriver and Jenna Meadows each posted 12 service points, including three aces by Shriver and one ace by Meadows. Grace Martin posted five points and one ace in the win, Peri Martin added four points and one ace, while Alex Barnes finished with two points and Brooke Pasquale had one point on an ace.
At the net, Grace Martin led the victors with eight kills and three blocks, while Ryleigh Caldwell added seven kills and Meadows came in with six kills. Barnes posted five kills for the Blue and White, while Webb and Shriver each had three kills, with one block by Webb. Hunter Copley capped off the GAHS net attack with one kill in the victory.
Shriver finished with a team-best 29 assists for GAHS, while Grace Martin led the defense with 10 digs, followed by Meadows and Pasquale with eight digs apiece.
The Blue Angels also swept Fairland on August 30, in Centenary.
GAHS will try for its 11th straight league victory and 18th consecutive regular season victory on Thursday, when the Blue Angels host Rock Hill.
