Gallia Academy Blue Devils (0-1) at River Valley Raiders (1-0)

Last Week: Gallia Academy lost to Meigs 14-8, in Rocksprings; River Valley defeated Eastern 27-0, in Tuppers Plains.

Last meeting between the teams: September 3, 2016. River Valley won 20-7, in Gallipolis.

Current head-to-head streak: River Valley has won 2 straight.

RVHS offense last week: 191 rushing yards, 101 passing yards.

GAHS offense last week: 222 rushing yards, 89 passing yards.

RVHS offensive leaders last week: QB Patrick Brown 8-21-1, 101 yards, 2TDs; RB Cole Young 16 carries, 161 yards; WR Dustin Barber 5 receptions, 83 yards 2TDs.

GAHS offensive leaders last week: QB Justin McClelland 8-31-0, 89 yards, TD; RB Justin McClelland 17 carries, 91 yards; WR Garrett Burns 5 receptions, 34 yards.

RVHS defense last week: 204 rushing yards, 14 passing yards.

GAHS defense last week: 77 rushing yards, 187 passing yards.

Five things to note:

1. This is the 13th gridiron meeting between GAHS and RVHS, with the Blue Devils holding a 10-3 record. In the 12 previous games, GAHS holds a 418-to-110 scoring edge. This is the third annual OVB Community Bowl, with River Valley in current possession of the traveling trophy.

2. Gallia Academy’s last trip to Bidwell resulted in a 27-13 Raider victory, on September 5, 2015. That game was the inaugural OVB Community Bowl.

3. GAHS has lost 14 consecutive non-league games. The Blue Devils’ last non-league victory came by a 55-37 count at Fairland on September 12, 2014. RVHS is 11-2 in non-league contests since joining the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division in 2014.

4. Last week, the Raiders recorded their first shutout since Week 6 of the 2015 season. It was River Valley’s fourth shutout victory in the eight-year tenure of RVHS head coach Jerrod Sparling.

5. Gallia Academy was less than 30 seconds away from victory last Friday, but completed a touchdown pass and escaped with the victory.

Federal Hocking Lancers (0-1, 0-0) at South Gallia Rebels (0-1, 0-0)

Last Week: Federal Hocking lost to Alexander 42-6, in Stewart; South Gallia lost to East 46-14, in Mercerville.

Last meeting between the teams: September 2, 2016. South Gallia won 42-24 in Stewart.

Current head-to-head streak: South Gallia has won 5 straight.

FHHS offense last week: 46 rushing yards, 50 passing yards.

SGHS offense last week: 94 rushing yards, 0 passing yards.

FHHS offensive leaders last week: QB Hunter Smith 4-9-0 50 yards, 1TD; RB Trevor Bell, 6 carries, 24 yards; WR Mason Brown 3 receptions, 47 yards, 1TD.

SGHS offensive leaders last week: RB Kyle Northup 15 carries, 23 yards, 2TDs.

FHHS defense last week: 429 rushing yards, 29 passing yards.

SGHS defense last week: 169 rushing yards, 178 passing yards.

Five things to note:

1. South Gallia is 6-1 against the Lancers all-time, with a 243-to-147 scoring edge. All seven meetings between the teams have happened as members of the TVC Hocking. Federal Hocking’s only victory over the Rebels came on on September 28, 2012, in Athens County. FHHS won that game by a 56-0 count.

September 4, 2015. South Gallia won 44-13 in Mercerville.

2. The Lancers last visiting Mercerville on September 4, 2015, when the Rebels rolled to a 44-13 win.

3. The Rebels trailed FHHS 18-6 more than halfway into last season’s meeting, but scored five touchdowns in the second half to complete the comeback and escape Stewart with the win.

4. Last week, SGHS trailed 46-0 through three quarters of play, but scored twice in the final stanza. The Rebels were 0-of-2 on pass attempts in their 2017 season opener.

5. The Lancers have lost 22 consecutive games. Federal Hocking’s last win was a 16-14 triumph over visiting Waterford on October 24, 2014. FHHS has also lost 11 straight on the road, with its last road win coming on October 17, 2014, by a 16-15 count at Miller.
