Eastern golf wins at Oxbow


BELPRE, Ohio — Two shots made one huge difference.

Southern is now tied with Waterford atop the league standings after the Eastern golf team snuck away from Oxbow Golf Course with a two-stroke victory on Wednesday during a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division contest in Washington County.

The Eagles posted only two of the top five individual rounds, but still came away with a winning team tally of 176. The Tornadoes were second with a 178, with host Belpre (209), Wahama (215) and Federal Hocking (264) closed out the three through five spots.

Besides the top honors, EHS also received a medlaist effort from Josiah Brewer — who fired a low round of 5-over par 40.

Ryan Harbour was next with a 43, while Kylie Tolliver and Kaleb Honaker wrapped up the winning total with respective efforts of 46 and 47.

Nathan Hensley and Nick Durst also had rounds of 54 and 58 for the Eagles.

Jensen Anderson paced the Tornadoes with an overall runner-up effort of 42, followed by Jonah Hoback and Jarrett Hupp with identical rounds of 45.

Ryan Acree completed the SHS tally with a 46, while Landon Hill and Joey Weaver added respective efforts of 53 and 55.

The Golden Eagles were led by Maddie Roby with a 49, followed by Jeremiah Stitt with a 50 and Brittany Shaffer with a 54.

Brady Shriver completed the BHS tally with a 56, while Dalton Kimble also shot a 70.

Anthony Ortiz paced Wahama with a 48, followed by Gage Smith with a 52 and Dalton Kearns with a 55. Kyher Bush completed the White Falcon total with a 60, while Isaac Roush added a 64.

Mitchell Clem led the Lancers with a 62 and Brandon Burd followed with a 64. Wes Carpenter and Jadyn Lawson completed the team scoring with matching 68s, while Shane Fredericks and Tyler Clemons also had identical efforts of 70.
