Rain failed to spoil Saturday’s Armed Forces Day Community Picnic in the Gallipolis City Park as the dozens of picnickers enjoyed the sunshine and green grass for a game of frisbee, badminton or a friendly game of cornhole. BTS Software Solutions also plans to host free Zumba classes in the city park this summer.

Children and adults flocked to the Gallipolis City Park this weekend for the Armed Forces Day Community Picnic sponsored by BTS Software Solutions to enjoy not only outdoor games, but also free grilled food. This first BTS-sponsored event is expected to be the first of many as the company founded by a Gallipolis native increases it’s local footprint.
GALLIPOLIS — As a means of celebrating continued growth in Gallipolis and the surrounding areas, the first BTS [Battlefield Telecommunications Systems] Software Solutions-sponsored event, an Armed Forces Day Community Picnic, was held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Gallipolis City Park. Armed Forces Day, celebrated since 1950, was originally organized due to the unification of all branches of the armed forces into one department — the U.S. Department of Defense. BTS Software Solutions provided free grilled food, snacks, beverages and games to those in attendance.
Last week, BTS Software Solutions, a high-tech company that was originally launched by Gallipolis native Sean Lane in Baltimore, announced its plan to significantly increase its local footprint. The original focus of BTS was to develop advanced communication software and telecommunications mission management to support the U.S. Military. It has since grown to include other offshoot companies and initiatives — and new projects are also on the horizon. Free Zumba classes will begin in the park June 1.
