VINTON — Vinton Elementary celebrated Right to Read week on May 7-11 with the theme, “Be a Smart Cookie: Read.”
Students participated in classroom activities, such as: graphing favorite cookies, presenting classroom plays, coloring and poetry contests, cookie decorating and lots of reading.
Students also had the honor to hear two national, award-winning storytellers. Lyn Ford shared her folktale adaptations rooted in African American storytelling traditions and Jim Flanningan used humorous stories to instill positive character education assets within the students. Bossard Memorial Library, also, shared stories and discussed upcoming summer reading events.
