The latest mix of wintry weather left the Ohio River swollen and its banks flooded this weekend in Gallipolis. Monday’s snow showers only added to the accumulated snow while Tuesday’s forecast calls only for a slight chance snow showers in the evening with a high around 37. According to the National Weather Service, the Gallia County area will again see a chance of snow showers on Thursday night and into Friday. While the end of winter still may seem like a distant dream in Gallia County, on Groundhog Day this past Saturday, the famed groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, failed to see his shadow, predicting an early spring for 2013.
