The art work of students at Hannan Trace Elementary, grades 1-6, is currently being featured, along with that of students from other Gallia County schools, at the Gallia County Local Schools Art Show being exhibited at the French Art Colony in Gallipolis. One part of the display features these paintings by Hannan Trace Elementary students, that together, depict the scenes from the patriotic song, ‘America the Beautiful’. The young artists not only produced visual art to accompany the lyrics to the song, but they also provided a brief written statement about each frame of the collective work. The work titled, ‘America’ created by fourth grader Emily Mandeville and featuring the Grand Canyon, reads, “One of the most awe-inspiring sites in the world, this immense gorge has been carved out by the wild twisting Colorado River, which cuts through its center. At the bottom of the canyon lies the oldest exposed rock on earth.”
