GALLIPOLIS — Three members of the Gallipolis FFA Chapter have been named recipients of the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization — the American FFA Degree.
Lindsay Brown, Mandy Foster and Lawrence Wedemeyer are members of the Gallipolis FFA.
Brown is the daughter of Amy and Jamie Graham, and is a 2011 graduate of Gallia Academy High School (GAHS). She was enrolled in Agricultural Education classes for four years. Brown’s FFA activities included: Chapter President, MFE, Parliamentary Procedure, Soils, State and National Conventions, Mid-America Grasslands, State FFA Camp and Meats and General Livestock Judging. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience included Beef Breeding and a Job Placement at R&C Packing. Brown is currently attending the University of Rio Grande.
Foster is the daughter of Joe and Melinda Foster, and is a 2011 graduate of GAHS. She was enrolled in Agricultural Education for four years. Foster’s activities in the FFA included: Sentinel, Secretary, MFE, State and National Conventions, Parliamentary Procedures Team, Urban Soils, General Livestock Judging and Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference. Foster also participated in Junior Leaders, Secretary of the Gallia County Jr. Fair Board, National Honors Society, Secretary of the Triangle 4-H group, and JV volleyball. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience consisted of growing dairy calves. Foster is currently attending the University of Rio Grande.
Wedemeyer is the son of David and Lisa Burleson, and is a 2011 graduate of GAHS. He was enrolled in Agricultural Education Classes for four years. Wedemeyer’s FFA activities included: Chapter Officer, MFE, Officer Training, COLT Conference, State and National Conventions, Meats, Soils, Camp, New Member recruitment and General Livestock Judging. His Supervised Agricultural Experience included: Market Steers and Job Placement at Four Seasons Veterinary Clinic. Wedemeyer attended Ohio State - ATI in Wooster and currently works at R&C Packing.
Agricultural education is offered at GAHS through the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton JVSD. Harold Benson and Jerrod Ferguson are the Gallipolis FFA Advisors.
