CENTENARY — No evidence of a crime has been found during the investigation of a fire that occurred on Monday in Gallia County.
According to Shane Cartmill, public information officer with the Ohio Division of State Marshal, the cause of the fire at 119 Lincoln Pike remains under investigation, but no evidence of a crime was found during the recent investigation of the fire scene.
Firefighters with the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department and Gallipolis Fire Department were dispatched just after 6 p.m. on Monday, August 6 to the mobile home and cleared the scene at approximately 8:23 p.m.
According to Cartmill, the home is a total loss.
Two individuals were reportedly in the residence at the time of the fire, and Cartmill reported that the female occupant discovered the fire and alerted the male occupant of the blaze. Both occupants were able to escape, but were transported to Holzer Medical Center by ABLE emergency management services for treatment.
The male occupant was treated and released, while the female occupant of the residence was held for observation.
Fire investigators are returning to the home this week, according to Cartmill, to continue their examination of the scene.
