Despite Friday’s snow, approximately 75 students and community members gathered at the University of Rio Grande (URG) Saturday for an informational — and entertaining — technology in music conference spearheaded by URG music professor Scott Michal. The conference was structured so as to volley between informational discussions with music professionals and live performances by several regional performers. The day also provided an opportunity for those in attendance to visit URG’s new recording studio, pictured above, a project passionately conceived by Michal and completely constructed by Rio students. One highlight of the day’s events was the workshop with accomplished video game composer Sean Beeson, pictured right, who spoke to those in attendance about the business end, as well as the creativity side, of developing music for pay.
