Chillicothe Cavaliers (1-4) at Gallia Academy Blue Devils (3-2)

Last Week: Chillicothe lost 34-0 at Columbus DeSales; Gallia Academy 40-12 win vs. Vinton County.

Last Meeting: 2011 Gallia Academy won 19-7 at Chillicothe.

Notes: This is the first Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game for both teams this year. Chillicothe’s only win this season came against a Division Five opponent in Portsmouth West. The Cavaliers are 0-2 against Division Two opponents and 0-2 against Division Three opponents. The Blue Devils have defeated their last two opponents by a combined 78 points. Both teams that defeated Gallia Academy remain unbeaten on the year (Ironton and Licking Heights). GAHS averages 51.6 points per game in its three victories, while averaging just 10 in its defeats. Gallia Academy averaged 35 points in non-league games this year, compared to just 14.4 a year ago. The Blue Devils averaged just 13 points per games in SEOAL games last year. 2007-2008 is the last time either team has won back to back games in this series.

MHS has given up 30.2 points per game in non-league games this season, compared to 14 a year ago. MHS gave up 24.6 points per game in the TVC Ohio last year. Nelsonville-York has racked up over 1,400 yards this season on the ground. The combined record of the teams NYHS has beaten this season is 1-14, while the record for teams that have beaten the Buckeyes is a combined 8-2. Only two teams in the TVC Ohio had a non-league winning record this season, Athens at 4-1 and the Buckeyes at 3-2.

Eastern Eagles (3-2, 3-1) at Belpre Golden Eagles (1-4, 1-2)

Last Week: Eastern 62-6 win vs. South Gallia; Belpre 14-7 loss vs. Federal Hocking.

Last Meeting: 2011 Eastern won 20-0 at Eastern.

Current head-to-head streak: Eastern has won 2 straight.

Notes: Belpre is 0-4 against opponents with a winning record this season. Eastern is 3-0 against opponents with a losing record this season. This is the second game of Belpre’s against a Meigs County school. The Golden Eagles have not score on Eastern since becoming a member of the Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division. Belpre has score 21.8 points per game this season, while giving up 34.6 points per game. Eastern has scored 33.6 points per game this season, and has given up 18.2 points per game. Eastern will be going for its longest winning streak since 2010 when it had two three-game streaks. Wahama is the only common opponent between the two schools. The White Falcons defeated EHS 47-7, while beating BHS 47-20.

South Gallia Rebels (0-5, 0-4) at Federal Hocking Lancers (4-1, 3-0)

Last Week: South Gallia 62-6 loss at Eastern; Federal Hocking 14-7 win at Belpre.

Last Meeting: 2011 South Gallia won 34-0 at South Gallia.

Notes: Federal Hocking has won both of its last two games 14-7. The Lancers are on a four game winning streak, their longest since the nine game run they went on in 2006. The Lancers went on to make the playoffs that year. South Gallia is on its longest losing streak since 2004. The Rebels have lost by an average margin of 30 points this season. This is the the second straight road game for SGHS, while its the start of a two game home stand of the Lancers. Federal Hocking has outscored opponents 105-56 this season. Neither team has been shutout or shut a team out this season.

River Valley Raiders (1-4) at Chesapeake Panthers (1-4)

Last Week: River Valley 41-6 loss at Alexander; Chesapeake 21-12 loss at Portsmouth West.

Last Meeting: 2011, Chesapeake won 62-14 at RVHS.

Current head-to-head streak: Chesapeake has won 10 straight since 2002.

Notes: River Valley has never beaten Chesapeake in Ohio Valley Conference play, which opens up for both teams this weekend. One team will end a losing streak this weekend, as the Raiders have dropped four in a row while the Panthers have lost their last two contests. Chesapeake has a season-high 29 points in a seven-point win over Symmes Valley, but CHS has been outscored this fall by a 180-73 overall margin. River Valley’s season-high came in Week 3 against Meigs, a 46-18 setback. RVHS — which has been outscored by a 184-61 overall margin —has produced just 18 points since the loss to the Marauders.
