GALLIPOLIS — Three area men were recently indicted in Gallia County Common Pleas Court in connection with two area burglaries that appear to be related.
• James R. Snapp, 26, 194 Watts Road, Patriot, has been charged with two counts of burglary, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of safecracking.
Counts one and two, burglary and receiving stolen property, allege that Snapp trespassed in the habitation of Robert Ruff on or about March 12 with purpose to commit a criminal offense and received, retained, or disposed of a Remington 12 gauge shotgun, a Remington 16 gauge shotgun, and a Marlin 22 caliber single shot bolt action rifle, property of Ruff, with Snapp knowing or having reasonable cause to believe said property had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.
Counts three and four, burglary and safecracking, allege that on or about Dec. 31, 2008, he trespassed in a Hartsook Road structure occupied by Richard and Sandra Kiser with purpose to commit a criminal offense and on the same date knowingly entered, forced an entrance into, or tampered with a vault, safe, or strongbox with purpose to commit a theft offense.
He pled not guilty to the charges and was released on his own recognizance under a $20,000 bond and an additional bond set at $1,000 ten percent secured.
His jury trial is scheduled for July 9 at 9 a.m.
• Richard J. Kiser, 31, 3011 Plaza Road, Vinton, has been charged with one count each of burglary, receiving stolen property, and safecracking.
Counts one and two allege that on or about March 12 he also trespassed in the habitation of Ruff with purpose to commit a criminal offense and received, retained, or disposed of a Remington 12 gauge shotgun, a Remington 16 gauge shotgun, and a Marlin 22 caliber single shot bolt action rifle, property of Ruff, with Kiser knowing or having reasonable cause to believe said property had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.
Count three, safecracking, alleges that on or about Dec. 31, 2008, he did with purpose to commit a theft offense knowingly enter, force an entrance into, or tamper with a vault, safe, or strongbox with purpose to commit a theft offense.
Kiser pled not guilty to the charges and was released on his own recognizance under a $40,000 bond with an additional bond set at $1,000 ten percent secured.
His jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 2 at 9 a.m.
• Ryan J. Cochran, 18, 7783 Ohio 588, Gallipolis, has been charged with one count burglary and one count receiving stolen property for allegedly trespassing in the habitation of Ruff with purpose to commit a criminal offense on or about March 12 and receiving, retaining, or disposing of a Remington 12 gauge shotgun, a Remington 16 gauge shotgun, and a Marlin 22 caliber single shot bolt action rifle, property of Ruff, with Cochran knowing or having reasonable cause to believe said property had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.
He pled not guilty to the charges and was released on his own recognizance under a $30,000 bond with an additional bond set at $1,000 ten percent secured.
His jury trial is scheduled for Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.
