GALLIPOLIS — Among four cases recently heard in Gallia County Common Pleas Court, defendants were sentenced to community control or intervention in lieu of conviction after entering guilty pleas.
Cases recently resolved include:
• Travis Efaw, 21, 108 Locust St., Gallipolis, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after he pled guilty to one count of attempted abduction, a lesser offense than abduction for which he was initially charged for restraining the liberty of a Gallipolis woman by force or threat under circumstances that created a risk of physical harm or placed the said woman in fear on or about Nov. 8 2008.
The court honored a plea agreement that was made on the recommendation of the vicim, according to court records.
Efaw was further ordered to successfully complete SEPTA treatment, register with Ohio Employment Services, obtain his GED, pay costs of the prosecution, and have no contact with the victim.
• Brian Harrison, 29, 1149 Kerr Road, Bidwell, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after he pled guilty to one count of theft regarding miscellaneous merchandise stolen from Wal-Mart between April 1 and May 15, 2008.
He was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community service with all but 40 hours stayed, register with Ohio Employment Services, pay $798 restitution to Wal-Mart, and pay costs of the prosecution.
• Crystal J. Elliott, 27, 509 Bulaville Pike, Gallipolis, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after she pled guilty to one count of theft.
She was further ordered to pay $650 restitution to Wal-Mart, perform 500 hours of community service with all but 40 hours stayed, and register with Ohio Employment Services.
• Charles D. Strow, 27, Huntington, W.Va., was sentenced to intervention in lieu of conviction after he pled guilty to three counts of illegal processing of drug documents regarding forged prescriptions for Lortab to which the state had no objection.
Strow was ordered to two year supervision by the Gallia County Adult Probation Department, to abide by a plan established by Spectrum Outreach Services, pay $383 restitution to Holzer Clinic, and pay court costs.
• Kara L. Belville, aka Barnes, 31, 207 Boot Hill Road, Bidwell, was sentenced to intervention in lieu of conviction after she pled guilty to one count possession of drugs.
She was initially charged with two counts each possession and trafficking in drugs regarding eight Lortabs and five 40-milligram Oxycontin, though the state dropped counts two through four pursuant to a plea agreement.
Belville was ordered to two years of supervision by the Gallia County Adult Probation Department, to abide by a plan established by Spectrum Outreach Services, and pay costs of the prosecution.
