GALLIPOLIS — Saturday marked another fall day filled with with food and fun when the 8th Annual French City Chili-Fest returned to the Gallipolis City Park. The day began with the Chili Chase for Diabetes, sponsored by the Gallipolis Lions. Football fans watched football on a large screen TV in at on State Street, and the French City Chili-Fest Cook-off began at noon. A number of games and activities kept children busy, including train rides, face painting and a bounce house. Corn hole tournaments were also held. Cooper Cisco, son of Eric and Cindy Cisco of Bidwell, and grandson of Sid and Martha Cisco, is pictured with second place individual chili winner Pam Riley, of Riley’s Treasured Chili. First place in the idividual category was Ed Clary and third place in the individual category went Carlos Wood and Tammy Willet. First place in the business/organization category was River City Fellowship; second place was Gallipolis Career College; and third place was the Gallipolis Junior Women’s Club. The Gallipolis Junior Women’s Club also won the People’s Choice Award, and O’Dell’s won the best themed booth. The chili cook-off winners’ photos will be featured in tomorrow’s edition of The Gallipolis Daily Tribune.
